The G.C. Murphy Company started in McKeesport, PA in 1906 and expanded to nearly 300 locations before closing in 1989. The Murphy's "Five and Ten" was a beloved institution for yinzers throughout Western Pennsylvania. Whether yinz ate at the lunch counter or bought your comic books and candy there as a kid, if yinz grew up near a Murphy's chances are there's a story to tell about why the store was special.
